I bought a sleep-lift chair for dh since he has so much trouble getting off the bed and/or couch. Cost $1500 delivered into the house. The fabric is waterproofed but i use a pellon cooling mattress cover as it gets hot sitting in the chair and the mattress cover is also waterproof-lined - another $35 and machine washable so i got 2 of them. One is on the couch and one on the chair. He spends time in both of them daily. Ray has lymphedema which means the blood pools in his legs and they swell. car So the chair i bought also has a zero gravity position and 60 minutes daily in the zg position keeps the blood flowing back to the heart.

These wheelchairs are used to enhance comfort for users who may experience discomfort or pain during prolonged sitting.

Will Tilt-in-Space Help with Positioning?

A tilt-in-space wheelchair is designed to provide very specific benefits for both the wheelchair user and the caregiver. Users with insufficient strength to reposition themselves can be tilted easily by a caregiver to provide an effective weight shift or for easier repositioning in the wheelchair.

What Are the Benefits of a Tilt in Space Wheelchair?

reclining wheelchairs, while still widely available, are seldom chosen by wheelchair users these days. Tilt wheelchairs will provide almost all the benefits, few of the drawbacks and some added benefits over the recliners. The characteristics of both of these types of wheelchairs provide advantages for users who have more complicated needs than those of most conventional wheelchair users. One of the main benefits of custom power wheelchairs is their ability to tilt and recline. This feature will help you relieve pressure on your back, rear, shoulders, and thighs. tilting and reclining once every 15-20 minutes will improve your circulation and help prevent bedsores, which are uncomfortable—and often lingering—injuries to skin and tissue that are caused by prolonged pressure on one area. Staying in bed all day can lead to bedsores, edema (swelling caused by fluid trapped in your tissues), and depression. During the day, we encourage you to spend as much time in your custom power wheelchair as you are comfortable, both for your body and your mind.
